Privacy Policy
Last updated: July 2026
Your privacy matters to us. PetMedPal (“we,” “us,” or “our”) operates petmedpal.com to help pet parents across the United States and Canada care for their dogs and cats. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, how we use it, and the choices you have. We keep things deliberately simple, because trust is the whole point.
What information we collect
We only collect what we need to run the site and deliver the things you ask for. Depending on how you use PetMedPal, that may include:
- Contact and profile details you give us — your email address, first name, the type of pet you have (dog or cat), and your country (US or Canada) — when you claim your free discount card or subscribe to our newsletter.
- Consent records. To prove that you gave permission to email you, we store the date and time of your sign-up and confirmation, and a hashed (irreversibly scrambled) version of your IP address. We keep the hash rather than the raw address so we can honor legal requirements without holding onto identifying network data.
- Usage and click data. When you read a guide, tap an affiliate link, or open one of our emails, we may record anonymous or pseudonymous analytics — pages visited, links clicked, referring site, device and browser type — so we can attribute affiliate activity and understand what content helps people.
We do not knowingly collect information from children, and our site is intended for adults responsible for their pets’ care.
Why we collect it
- To send you the free pet medication discount card you requested.
- To deliver our email newsletter with guides, savings, and product picks — only if you opt in.
- To improve our content and figure out which guides and comparisons are genuinely useful.
- To attribute affiliate purchases so that our partners can credit us the small commission that keeps the site free.
- To keep records that show we email people only with their consent.
Double opt-in: how our email sign-up works
We use double opt-in for every email subscription. When you sign up, we send a confirmation email, and we only add you to our list after you click the confirmation link. This means no one gets added by mistake, and we can prove that every subscriber genuinely asked to hear from us. Every marketing email we send includes a one-click unsubscribe link and our mailing address.
We never sell your personal data
This is a promise, not a footnote: we do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to anyone. We never will. The only reason we share data with the service providers below is to actually deliver the things you asked for.
Third parties we work with
Running PetMedPal means relying on a few trusted service providers. They only receive the data they need to do their job, and they are contractually required to protect it:
- Email delivery — we send email through providers such as Brevo, Amazon SES, or a standard SMTP service. They process your email address to deliver messages and track basic engagement like opens and clicks.
- Affiliate networks — including Amazon Associates and other retail affiliate programs. When you click an affiliate link, the retailer or network may set a cookie to attribute a purchase to us.
- Analytics — we use privacy-conscious analytics to understand aggregate traffic and content performance.
Cookies and tracking
We use cookies and similar technologies to keep the site working, remember your preferences, measure traffic, and support affiliate attribution. Affiliate cookies are typically set by the retailer once you click through to their store. You can control or block cookies through your browser settings; some features may work differently if you do.
How long we keep your data
We keep your information only as long as we need it. Subscriber and consent records are retained while you remain subscribed and for a reasonable period afterward to meet legal and anti-spam obligations. When you unsubscribe or ask us to delete your data, we remove it (keeping only the minimal record required to honor your unsubscribe request and prove compliance). Aggregate, anonymized analytics may be retained longer because it no longer identifies you.
Your rights and choices
You are always in control of your information. You can:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct or update your details.
- Delete your data from our systems.
- Unsubscribe at any time using the link in any email, or by contacting us directly.
To exercise any of these rights, just email us and we’ll take care of it. See our contact page for more ways to reach us.
Canada’s Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL)
If you are in Canada, we comply with the Canadian Anti-Spam Legislation (CASL). That means we obtain your express consent before sending commercial email (through our double opt-in process), we clearly identify who we are, and we make it easy to withdraw consent. Withdrawing consent takes effect promptly, and you can do it from any email or by contacting us. We keep records of consent so we can demonstrate compliance.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we’ll revise the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes will be communicated where appropriate.
